Val D'Aosta Region
The Aosta Valley (Italian: Valle d'Aosta) is a mountainous Region in north-western Italy. It is bordered by France to the west, Switzerland to the north and the region of Piedmont to the south and east.
Aosta Valley can be considered the Palace of "Her Majesty the Snow": with the highest, the most famous and the most beautiful mountains in the Alps, winter sports are a natural gifts here. You can do something different every day of your holiday: downhill skiing, cross-country skiing, ski-touring, snowboard, fun carving, heliskiing, ice-climbing.
Aosta is about one hour from Turin (Torino), 30 minutes from Milan and Malpenso Airport, and 1.5 hours from Geneva, Switzerland.

Trentino & Dolomites
Province of Trento also referred to in English as Trentino (from the Italian name). The region is renowned for its mountains, such as the Dolomites, which compose a significant section of the Alps.
Trentino is marked by sports thanks to the many-faceted nature: from the 3,000 meter high Dolomite glaciers (on the Presena you can also ski in summer) to the Mediterranean climate on the Garda lake.

Lombardia Region
Lombardy is bordered by Switzerland (north) and by the Italian regions of Emilia-Romagna (south), Trentino-Alto Adige and Veneto (east), and Piedmont (west). The capital is Milan.
In the north of Lombardy there are very high mountains, (40% of the territory is mountains) the highest mountains are almost 4.000 meters in the Bernina Range.

Piemonte Region
Piedmont is a region in the northern part of Italy. The capital is Turin. Piedmont is surrounded on three sides by the Alps, including the Monviso (Mont Vis), where the Po rises, and the Monte Rosa. It borders with France, Switzerland and the Italian regions of Lombardy, Liguria and Aosta Valley.
Piedmont features 53 ski resorts, 1,300 kilometres of runs, and over 300 installations comprising aerial tramways, cableways, chair-lifts and ski-lifts, with a capacity of 400,000 people per hour.

Veneto Region(see also Dolomites)
The Italian Dolomites, bordering Austria, offer spectacular mountain scenery and a number of Italian skiing villages. Because of the height of some of the mountains, it's possible to ski nearly year round in some places. The Dolomites are good for beginning to advanced skiiers and offer other winter sports as well. Ortisei is a great place for cross-country skiing. Cortina d'Ampezzo and Val Gardena are two of the most well-known ski areas.

Montgenevre
Montgenevre is a small resort situated at 1,860m on the French side of the expansive Milky Way ski area. It has a good snow record, is reasonably price.
Montgenevre has a total of 59 slopes, covering 100kms of pistes and served by 38 lifts. Of the pistes, 25 are beginner runs, 23 are intermediate runs and 11 are advanced runs. The ski resort has several runs of decent length, the longest being seven kilometres.

Puy Saint Vincent
Situated on the border of Les Ecrins National Park, Puy St Vincent offers staggering views across the Pelvoux to the Barres des Ecrins, some of the wildest Alpine scenery in Europe. Puy St Vincent is split into two levels, 1,400m and 1,600m, and is made up of three hamlets. The village features a range of authentic churches and chapels, of which one is a 15th century listed monument.
Puy St Vincent has 67kms of ski runs, varying in difficulty, with some great runs for intermediates. The area is serviced by 16 lifts and has a further 100kms of cross-country skiing available. The longest run is three kilometres, with the top elevation at 2,750m. The total vertical descent is 1,350m. For snowboarders, there are some good beginner slopes plus a half-pipe and fun park.

Serre Chevalier
Serre Chevalier is a large valley between the Lautaret and Briançon passes, lying open on its southern side. Its 13 villages and hamlets, which blend tradition and modernity, are scattered across the valley. The resort also offers a wide range of activities for the whole family. Serre Chevalier lies at the foot of the most beautiful peaks of the Ecrins National Park, an area which is bathed in light. |
