VICTOURS GOES CARBON NEUTRAL

And aims to make air travel greener

TORONTO, CANADA -  May 2, 2007 – Canadian Tour Operator, Victours International has made the decision to go carbon neutral and contribute to making air travel greener.  The company is committed to reducing the harmful effects of carbon dioxide emissions by working together with travelers, suppliers of travel services and with the help of Tree Canada, a not-for-profit charitable organization in Ottawa, Ontario.

Clients booking air travel through Victours International will now be given the option to make the flight Carbon Neutral by offsetting the CO2 emissions produced during the flight and has set up the Clean Air Calculator on their website (www.victours.ca).  The company is supporting Tree Canada and hopes to spread the word and help travelers fully recognize the environmental damage that can be caused with air travel activities and help reduce the causes of global warming.  Trees represent one of the best ways to extract carbon (which enters the tree as CO2) from the air.

“Climate change is a serious problem.  We are taking a step in the right direction to help lessen the effects of global warming by reducing carbon emissionsstates Cecilia Rossos, General Manager & Owner of Victours International. The company estimates they produce over 99 tonnes of CO2 annually.  This amount of CO2 can be offset through the planting of over 590 trees. By supporting Tree Canada, and by asking clients to offset their flights, the company can return something to benefit the environment.  “Going carbon neutral is straightforward and another means in which we take responsibility for the greenhouse gas emissions we create every time we travel by car or by air.  If there is a way that we can make a difference and help to purify the air we breathe then we want to be involved” says Ms. Rossos.

"We are pleased with our new partnership with Victours - our first carbon neutral Travel Company” said Michael Rosen, Tree Canada President.  “Victours is yet another example of a company willing to make the extra effort to help offset the carbon emissions their office is responsible for through the planting of trees."
